These round abstracts ornaments bare the story of various walks through life, and scenery along the way. The holiday season is one that reminds us to approach our journey with a grateful heart, to give freely and often, and to find joy in the present moment, with the ones we hold dear.

Each set of ornaments are reminiscent of a different journey, and the lessons it holds. As with my larger work, I wanted to create a feeling where I can connect with the viewer through story. Each layer adding beauty to the whole. My favorite element about this particular design is how light shines through the lace to create an entirely new work of art. A simple reminder of how important perspective can be.

Perfect as a gift or memento, these ornaments can’t help but capture the eye. These are hand made with up-cycled embroidered lace that is stretched by miniature bamboo embroidery hoops. They were then layered with metallic paints, paint and inks. Each ornament is sealed with clear varnish for protection. Finishing touches include a silky chiffon ribbon, a Woke Studio eye and 2021 charm, my signature, and a keepsake bag.

This grouping was named after the wild flower, Queen Anne’s Lace. This flower is a favorite among bees and butterflies, while in some areas considered an invasive weed. Their name comes from the beautiful lace pattern of their heads, consisting of tiny white blossoms. It is a flower associated with safety and refuge.
